Body Speak
My body speaks to me
Of the pain she's carried for me,
Of suffering that was just too heavy to bear,
Of anguish so deep that it would have,
Buried me had I felt it all.
The language she uses is not words or ideas;
She speaks to me through tension, tightness, and pain,
Through an inhale and exhale,
Through a deep belly laugh.
For so long, I have denied her existence,
Just a vehicle I was taught to dismiss,
Something shameful and wicked,
So much to deny and repress.
That was the script for the play of life.
But my body wasn’t made to fit society's call.
She is her own goddess, full of wisdom.
A fierce warrior and beautiful being,
Connected to the earth mother.
So wise, she holds all my sorrows and pain,
Until I am ready to feel them.
Wise warrior body with deep wisdom,
I didn’t speak your language for so long;
I didn’t understand.
Wise warrior goddess body,
I cherish you, my body.
I embrace you, your wisdom untold.
No longer at war, we are now whole.
Through your language, our healing unfolds.
